After pulling off a statement win at UFC 184 to retain UFC Women's bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey could be in for more boon as Top-Rank head honcho Bob Arum offered her free ticket to the upcoming pound-for-pound showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Rousey, who finished off her previously undefeated challenger Cat Zingano in one of the quickest title matches in UFC history at 14 seconds, admitted days before her match that getting a ticket for Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, which could be bought at around $1,000 to $5,000, would give her extra motivation to win and get the lion's share of the fight purse.
Rousey's signature submission move - the armbar - made Zingano to tap out following a wild scramble right from the opening bell, cementing her status as the best pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world. Of course, the former Olympian also received a fat check enough for her to buy a ticket for the most-anticipated boxing match this year.
But in an exclusive chat with a TMZ reporter, Arum said he would be willing to give Rousey a free access to the Fight of the Century, and that all she needs is to call him.
"She's just have to call me and I am happy to get her a ticket," Arum said. "I really admire her. She's real warrior."
Arum, a consummate businessman that he is, isn't exactly the best person to believe in, especially if it's about the sale of insanely pricey tickets. Then again, he's also wise enough to understand the importance of bringing in another sports star like Rousey, who would add more starpower to the event dubbed as the "Super Bowl of Boxing."
After five years of frustrations and seemingly endless disputes between both camps, the fight between undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. and eight-division world champ Manny Pacquiao has been set on May 2 at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fight is expected to break all sorts of records, including live gate attendance, PPV buys and sales of merchandize.
