Measles Outbreak Beyond California Is The Worst One Since 2000!

The measles outbreak in California is beyond words horrifying. For one thing the outbreak could now be considered the greatest one yet since 2000.

According to NPR, The measles outbreak in California that reportedly began at Disneyland is rapidly expanding. There are already 59 confirmed cases of people suffering from the measles virus.

The main reason why experts believe that the measles outbreak started at the famous theme park is because 42 of the confirmed cases were people who had recently visited Disneyland, er the California Department of Public Health report.

Right now the spread of the measles outbreak has gone beyond California , with seven cases documented in other parts of the country, such as Utah, Oregon, Washington and Colorado.

"Measles is not a trivial illness," epidemiologist Dr. Gl Chavez said Wednesday. "It can be very serious with devastating consequences."

Despite the severity of the viral disease, Chavez insists that people can still visit Disneyland without fear of contracting the disease. This is possible for people who are already vaccinated.

It can be noted that back in 2000, the highly contagious airborne disease was declared eliminated in the U.S., The Telegraph reports.

Nevertheless, measles cases continue to be normal and even increasing. Last year alone, 644 cases were documented.

In light of this issue, public health officials had asked unvaccinated kids to stay at home for three weeks as much as possible
