13 pound baby born in Germany had been the world record for heaviest baby to ever been born. Yet, this record has now been beaten by a 14 pound baby born in Colorado. Meet the heaviest baby in the state of Colorado.
In 2013, the record for heaviest baby was held by the 13 pound baby born in Germany. The baby girl named Jasleen had weighed approximately 13.47 pounds. She was 23 inches in length. Despite the weight and size, Jasleen was born via natural methods or through the vagina.
"We anticipated that the child would be big," shares Holger Stepan, the chief of obstetrics in a report by CNN, adding, "We prepared in advance by assembling a special team (of doctors and midwives) to be ready for any possible complications."
The 13 pound baby born in Germany was recorded to be the heaviest in the country. Jasleen however failed to beat the Guinness World Records for heaviest baby born. The title was given to a baby born in Seville, Ohio in the year 1879, who had weighed a whopping 23 pounds. Yet, in a matter of 11 hours, the baby boy died.
Now, it looks like the 13 pound baby born in Germany record for heaviest baby born has been beaten. In Colorado, a woman had given birth to a baby almost 14 pounds in weight. The baby girl identified as Mia Yasmin Hernandez had been born via a caesarean section. For the family, Mia's size was quite shocking.
The 13 pound baby born in Germany also has competition for the title from a baby born in California. Early this year, a woman in the state of California gave birth to a baby boy weighing 15 pounds. The baby boy named Andrew Cervantez had been born via an emergency caesarean section.
