Kobe Bryant to New York Knicks Trade Has Legs – Former Lakers Rick Fox

Former Los Angeles Lakers and NBA champion Rick Fox thinks it's not very impossible to see Kobe Bryant playing with the New York Knicks in the near future as the Black Mamba chases his sixth championship ring in his career.

In an interview with Larry King, Fox pointed out that it's not much of a stretch for Bryant to ask for a trade that would rejoin him with former head coach Phil Jackson and teammate Derek Fisher to play with the Knicks, more especially if the Lakers continue to struggle.

Fox, who won three championships with Bryant from 2000 to 2003, believed the Knicks present a better chance for the All-Star shooting guard to win a championship than sticking around with the Lakers, who are even struggling mightily in attracting free-agents.

"I think with Phil in New York right now and I think, [Bryant] finishing his career in the next two-three years in L.A., there's not a real opportunity for him to win a championship here," Fox said in an interview with King.

"I wouldn't put it past him going in search of another one or two championships. And I believe personally that's getting done in New York. I just believe in Phil, I've been around him. And I know Kobe's had his greatest success with Phil in a leadership capacity."

In spite two major surgeries and age factor, the 36-year old Bryant has remained one of the most potent scorers in his 19th season in the league, as he averaged 26.5 points along with 3.0 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game though six games.

While the Lakers have just won their first game of their campaign after six tries, the Knicks are in equal footing with the purple gold with a 2-6 record.

The Knicks are in the first year of implementing the triangle offense philosophy that won many championships for Jackson during his time with the Lakers and the Chicago Bulls. And apparently, the team is still dealing a lot of growing pains with regards to executing the system efficiently.
