NBA Rumors Central: Rockets Plan To Acquire Kevin Durant, Mavs Eye LaMarcus Aldridge

The Houston Rockets will remain as a potential landing spot for superstar small forward Kevin Durant despite the report that it would be a two-team race for the service of perhaps the most prolific scorer in the league when he becomes a free-agent in 2016, ESPN Marc Stein said on Thursday.

Rockets are expected to go all in again on the free-agency market two summers from now after missing elite free-agents last summer, including power forward Chris Bosh.

According to Stein, the Rockets will make a hard push in their attempt to sign Durant in 2016 and form a triumvirate of superstar alongside James Harden and Dwight Howard.

"They are going to keep swinging big." Stein said on ESPN. "Kevin Durant in 2016 is the guy they got their eyes on. They're gonna try to jump into that mix."

Durant, who is expected to miss three more weeks after suffering a broken foot in the preseason, will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2016, and early reports indicated that the Thunder (his current team) and Wizards (home team) are the ballclubs with most chance to sign him that year.

However, with the resources and the star power the Rockets possess, general manager Daryl Morey will try his best shot at landing a high-calibre player like Durant and finally complete the recipe for a championship in Houston.

Mavs Set Sign on LaMarcus Aldridge Next Summer: Mark Cuban's franchise has managed to form a solid team this season by trading for centre Tyson Chandler and snatching Chandler Parson from the Houston Rockets.

However, the Mavs are reportedly not done yet as they look to add another big piece in the puzzle next summer, and sources indicated the team is targeting incoming free-agent LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trail Blazers.

"The subject was Portland star and Seagoville product LaMarcus Aldridge and the possibility that Nowitzki and other Maverick players might want to start their sales pitches to Aldridge as soon as possible. The 6-11 power forward will be one of the NBA's most attractive free agents in the summer of 2015," according to Dallas News.com.
