The 2014-15 NBA Season Opening Week special resumes on Wednesday with 12 exciting games. However, there's no bigger match out there than the tussle between old rivals Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
Bulls vs. Knicks: It's always going to be special everytime the Bulls and the Knicks face off on an NBA court. On Wednesday, these two proud franchises will rekindle their rivalry in what could be a star-studded and action-packed season-opener.
With the arrival of All-Star power forward Pau Gasol and return to full health of former MVP Derrick Rose, the Bulls are once again a legitimate title contender this season.
Throughout the preseason, the Bulls showed how potent they are on both ends of the court, making most of their shots from all angles and shutting down scoring opportunities with their top-notch defense.
Reigning defensive Player of the Year Joakim Noah believed the Bulls are certainly capable of contending for a championship, especially if Rose continues to show signs of his old self before he suffered a gruesome ACL injury in 2012.
"The possibilities are endless," Noah told the press via ESPN. "I think the sky's the limit, especially when you bring a guy like Derrick back -- not only what he means as a talent, but what he means to the city."
Meanwhile, the Knicks managed to keep superstar forward Carmelo Anthony for the next season, paying him around $124 million throughout the duration of his contract. Knicks president Phil Jackson also brought Derek Fisher to usher the Triangle System era in the Big Apple.
Melo, who flirted with the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers last summer, believed the new system and new coach will bring wonders for the franchise.
"I think any time you have a new coach, a new energy comes along with that. You can just walk around the building and feel that energy," said Anthony, who hopes to make his return in the postseason after seeing his 10-year streak in the playoffs snapped last year.
