LSU fan dies in stands has been confirmed by The Daily Reveille, the official student paper of the university. The man who died was a 59-year-old man named Brian Tingley, who lived in the metro area of New Orleans.
According to reports, he died because of a certain cardiovascular-related disease. He had constantly complained of chest pains before he suffered what was believed to be a heart attack. He died in the lower section of the south end zone of the stands at the Tiger Stadium at the end of the 10-7 win of LSU over Ole Miss last Saturday.
As posted on Twitter, "#LSU fan died of natural causes in the South End Zone of Tiger Stadium during end of game."
A little later, a new post was written, "#LSU fan that died in South End Zone was up in the stands, had nothing to do with fans rushing the field."
It was initially assumed that the man had died on the field, as thousands of fans rushed to the field after No. 24 LSU defeated No. 3 Miss Ole. EMS personnel who were able to quickly arrive to where Tingley was situated were unsuccessful in their attempts of reviving him.
Michael Bonnette, the sports information director of LSU, confirmed to the press that there was, indeed, a death that occurred in the stands. Authorities are still investigating the incident, but it has been identified that the LSU fan dies in stands was due to natural causes.
The East Baton Rouge coroner, William Clark, otherwise known as Beau, also confirmed the death of the LSU fan dies in stands on Sunday. Tingley was officially pronounced dead at 11:25 p.m.
Troopers from the Louisiana State Police were the ones who notified the family of the LSU fan dies in stands late Saturday night.
