NBA Rumors: Bulls Could Eye Kevin Martin Trade in February

The Chicago Bulls may have to wait until February trade deadline to pull off a move on the trading front. Nevertheless, there's a big chance the Eastern Conference powerhouse could target a deal for Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin by that time.

The Martin to Bulls trade rumor has been spreading quickly like wild fire since it was first brought up by Fan Sided reporter Ronald Agers. Martin, who averaged 19.1 points and 3.0 rebounds last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, is considred as an odd-man out after the T-Wolves made major moves to reconstruct their roster.

The arrival of Andrew Wiggins and Zach Lavine might be good reasons to say that Martin's days in Twin City are numbered. Wiggins, who was acquired by the Timberwolves along with Anthony Bennet and first-rounder in 2015 from the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Kevin Love trade, is projected to start as a big shooting guard. Lavine, on the other hand, is a helluva of an athlete with the ability to make impact on both ends of the floor.

This youth revolution in Minnesota is a sign that Martin would be dispensable moving forward, and contenders like the Bulls are very much willing to make a gamble on a shooting guard that boasts one of the deadliest jump shots in the league.

Martin, who shot 43 percent from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc, is entitled to pocket roughly $6 million this year. Meanwhile, the Bulls have a bunch of tradable assets - including Mike Dunleavy's expiring contract and a promising young player like Tony Snell. According to reports, if the Bulls would trade for Martin, Dunleavy and Snell would be an attractive offer for the veteran shooter.

Chicago Now.com writer Doug Thonos believed the Bulls may take few months before making a move on the trading front. With Derrick Rose returning in full force, the Bulls coaching staff will evaluate how much of an impact the former MVP can provide after two major knee surgeries. However, if Rose doesn't live up to expectation, then the Bulls could look for some help in the backcourt via trade.
