Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Argentine punching machine Marcos Maidana are all ready to go for the second time in five months, with the light middleweight and welterweight titles hanging in the balance. It's going to be all Mayhem for sure!
What the fight means for them?
Mayweather Jr. 46-0-0 (26 KO) - Coming off perhaps the most rugged fight in his career, Money May is looking for vindication after being pushed to the limit by a brawny Argentine named Chino last May.
Of course, the 37-year old Mayweather wants perfection and he won't be satisfied until he delivers a beating to Maidana on Saturday. He already dominated the money sharing by racking up $32 million. Now, it's up to him to show what his interpretation of domination in the ring is.
Maidana 35-4-0 (31 KO) - Chino has already accomplished something when he brought hell to Mayweather in the first fight. However, the second fight warrants him to exceed his first goal. This time, he wants nothing less of a victory against the man hailed as the best pound-for-pound fighter in this generation.
Can he do it? Yes, the Argentine is capable of shocking the world if he continues to stick with his 'tactics' and that is to turn the fight into a rugged wrestling match as they say. But there's a risk in fighting a smart boxer the second time, more so a guy like Mayweather. Still, Maidana is up to the challenge.
Undercard Fights
The undercard is not as exciting as the ones we saw last May when Adrien Broner and Amir Khan made their presence felt in the buildup to the main event, but it's nevertheless intriguing.
Two championship bouts will take place before the main draw. The first is between Leo "Terremoto" Santa Cruz vs. Manuel "Suavecito" Roman for the WBC Super Bantamweight Championship, while Miguel "Títere" Vazquez takes on Mickey "The Spirit" Bey for the IBF Lightweight World title.
