Singer Katy Perry is reportedly sued over her "Dark Horse" hit by a group of Christian rappers.
Another controversy has struck the well-known singer which already questions her credibility to producer her own music. A lawsuit was filed at Missouri District Court on Tuesday by a Christian rapper named Flame, whose real name is Marcus t Gray. The hip-hop artist claimed that the 'Roar' singer allegedly copy one of his songs from his Grammy nominated album 'Our World: Redeemed'.
Flame states in the lawsuit that his 2008 song entitled 'Joyful Noise' has been "irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in Dark Horse". According to the report by BBC, Flame aka Marcus Gray, Lecrae Moore, Emanuel Lambert and Chike Ojukwu are actually seeking damages from the singer along with Juicy J, Capitol Records and songwriters Dr Luke and Max Martin for copyright infringement.
Before Katy Perry was sued over her 'Dark Horse' song, she was also struck with the same issue. Her song 'Roar' was also intriguingly associated with Sara Bareilles' song "Brave." With already two issues of copying songs from other artists' work, is it really possible that the singer did such thing? The said issue may actually tarnish the singer's reputation and may even question the authenticity of her songs.
Perry's song has been actually controversial and has made an affectation to religious matters in a seemingly unpleasant way. On February, more than 60,000 demanded a removal of an offensive scene featured in her video. The clip shows that an Islamic necklace has been burned when a lightning shot came out from the singer's fingers.
Many Muslims actually labeled it as blasphemopus; thus, they were forced to edit the scene and replace the necklace into a plain gold chain. With Katy Perry sued over her Dark horse hit, the plaintiffs expects to receive unspecified financial resolution.
