Amy Van Dyken-Rouen's accident is definitely one of the most heartbreaking moments to her family and to all her supporters since there is said to be a little chance that she might be able to resume her daily activities using all her extremities.
Six-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer is currently facing a very tight competition unlike her usual battles in the water since this time, she is competing to survive and resume her normal life after suffering from an injury. Amy Van Dyken's tragic accident occurred on June 6 when she was involved in a vehicular accident which left her a severe injury in her spine that made her unable to feel her legs.
Amidst the most challenging time that the swimmer faces, she remains to become positive with one great hope that one day she will be able to regain some feeling in her legs although it still uncertain when will it possibly happen. Instead of becoming more depressed and allowing herself to look so little of herself, Amy Van Dyken is very optimistic even after her accident. While spending most of her time in wheelchair and in the hospital bed, the swimmer has been active with her social media life as she shares to her supporters the latest update of her condition.
Just a day after her surgery, the Olympian posted a photo of her family in her Instagram account while it was really a horror for them when she was about to go inside the operating room. Before Amy Van Dyken's scheduled operation related to her accident went on, her doctors already advised her and her husband Tom Rouen to say goodbye to each other just in case she did not survive the surgery.
With the hope of recovering from her tragic accident, Amy Van Dyken continues to attend her rehab sessions in a Colorado hospital. She's even praised that she is becoming more positive as she deals with her condition. As she becomes active with social media, she even shared her X-ray result which shows her dislocated vertebrae. Her goal as of now is to walk out of the hospital in August.
