North Bend explosion destroyed buildings and damaged other properties as it occurred early Friday morning.
A massive explosion has completely shocked residents living in the area as they heard a loud blast about 3:45 in the morning. The North Bend explosion on Friday has damaged many business stores including barber shops, salons and even a gas station. Exact reason for the massive blast is still being figured out by the authorities.
The sudden incident has prompted Eastside fire crews to arrive in the scene and extinguish the fire in the said strip mall where the blast occurred. The fire was extinguished early Friday morning but authorities made a door to door inspection as they fear that another there might be another possible explosion. According to the KIRO report, crews from Puget Sound Energy have conducted natural gas leak surveys to ensure that the natural gas system does not have a leak.
Fire officials reported that the North Bend explosion did not caused fatalities but there were reports of minor injuries only. According to the report, two individuals suffered minor injuries resulting from a cut from shattered glasses. The CBS news previously reported that the explosion was believed to be centered in either the Pizza Place or in the barber shop.
Moreover, state investigators are still trying to determine what caused the explosion though there were initial reports saying that it was a result of a gas leak. The North Bend explosion caused great damage to the business in the area as the strip mall that exploded includes a barber shop, the 76 gas station and salons. Three other buildings were also severely damaged in the blast.
According to the earlier report by KIRO, three buildings were also destroyed in the North Bend explosion. There was a building that has been reduced to pieces of wood, broken glass and other debris while the other one was reduced a charred and smoking hulk. The last building was leaning as its foundation was damaged.
Meanwhile, power has been shut off and the authorities have issued evacuation.
