Celebrity chef and The Taste host Nigella Lawson was prevented by authorities to board a first class flight en route to Los Angeles after she confessed to court that she took cocaine and other drugs.
Lawson now joins the ranks of the late Amy Winehouse, Kate Moss, and Rusell Brand who were prevented from entering the US premises due to drug issues.
The Daily Mail reported that the 54 year old "Domestic Goddess" was seen at the Heathrow Terminal checking in to catch her flight but was not allowed to take the flight. The Mail reported that Lawson looked upset after the incident and immediately left the airport. "She could not get on the flight so she had to turn around and leave," a witness told Mail.
Days ago, she posted via micro-blogging site, Twitter, that she is heading to Los Angeles for a vacation. "Packing for my holiday," she shared and posted a photo of a sun hat.
Her ban from entering the US now adds up to the list of her struggles. Last year, she had a publicized divorce with her husband Charles Saatchi after he was seen grabbing her throat outside a restaurant in London. She also sued her two former aides for fraudulent charges and, during the trial, was forced to admit in court that she took cocaine and smoked cannabis in front of her children.
She clarified though that she has no drug dependency problems. "I had a life problem. I decided to address that," she told the members of the jury.
The US Embassy, through its spokesperson Lyyne Platt, confirmed to Fox News that Lawson was refused to travel to the US and "had subsequently been invited to the embassy to apply for a visa."
Authorities refused to disclose the real score why Miss Lawson was barred from going to the US. Accordingly, drug use and immorality are considered grounds to refuse a passenger to enter the United States.
Nigella Lawson hosts both the US and UK versions of The Taste. She authored books including the best-selling "How To Be a Domestic Goddess" and "Nigella Express".
