James was a little kid who was bullied in elementary school, though he didn't let that get the best of him and he ended up blossoming in high school. He grooved to the song "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World because one line still resonates with him: everything will be alright.
Len Goodman described the dance as full on, flat out and fantastic; and Bruno Tonioli said the routine had the explosive energy of a lightning strike.

Amy's story was also a tearjerker. Her memorable year was 1999 when she lost her legs to bacterial meningitis. The disease also affected her kidneys but her generous father who donated his kidney to her. Her dance was a beautiful Derek Hough choreography.
The judges, audience and all other dancers were in tears. Bruno called the dance heart-wrenching yet inspirational while Len said it touched his brain with the difficulty of the routine.

Danica's young son Draco is adorable and she's reminded that her grandmother died just before his birth. Danica paid tribute to both important people in her life with a Contemporary routine by Val Chmerkovskiy.
Carrie Ann called it sincere, graceful and delicate; Robin called the duo a magnificent couple to watch, whilst Len had the metaphor of the day, saying watching them dance was like butter on a hot muffin.
Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Episode 3 - Charlie White and Sharna Burgess -- 36 out of 40:
Charlie's memorable year was 2010, where he and Meryl Davis won the SILVER medal. This is because it made them even more driven to try harder. Sharna Burgess' Jive was a celebration of dance.
Judge Len said it was the official "happy hour" inside the ballroom.

The pop star was tiny when he moved to the U.S. in 2010 to pursue a music career. He became an internet sensation and his parents gave up everything in Australia to bring him to Hollywood.
His dance was a Jazz number choreographed by Witney Carson and Cody danced to one of his songs, "Surfboard," a tribute to his Dad.
Bruno called the dance refreshing whilst Robin said he made it his own.

Candace gets uplifted as two of her former co-stars visited rehearsal to offer her words of encouragement: Andrea Barber, who played Gibler on the series and Lori Loughlin, who played Rebecca Donaldson.
The duo's Elvis-inspired Jive was fast and fun and guest judge Robin called it snazzy, whilst Bruno compared her moves to Ann-Margret.

Nene's story of her best year was when she married her husband for the second time. Tony Dovolani choreographed a Rumba dance to tap into this passion.
Robin told Nene she appreciated seeing another side to her; Bruno called her "Naughty Nene the Southern Siren", whilst Carrie Ann gave Tony props for going shirtless.
Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Episode 3 - Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke -- 30 out of 40:
Drew's most memorable year was when his son Connor was born in 2005. He didn't want Connor to go through him dying early like his experience at eight, so he lost 80 pounds and got healthy. Cheryl Burke choreographed an elegant, classic Waltz for their dance.
Len said it was charming but got muddled a little in the middle. Robin however said she'd be booing if she were watching on her couch at home.
