Hermione Granger, known to her parents and the government as Emma Watson, has shed her "Harry Potter" Hogwarts' robe to brace the cover of GQ.

However, Watson isn't showing off her new look, or desperation to stay in the limelight, on the contrary, it is to promote her new movie role as Nicki, the girl that LA Times describes as, "the pole-dancing "Valley vixen" of the notorious Hollywood Bling Ring, the youths who authorities say burglarized celebrity homes in 2008 and 2009," in the Sofia Coppola's film, entitled, no shocker here, "The Bling Ring," which is set to hit the big screen on June 14, 2013.

Appearing in a dress with a short, tight, dark skirt, connected by a silver ring to a light, tight top, it looks very much like the dress worn by Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman."

Since the ending of the "Harry Potter" series the 22-year-old Watson has been taking roles in dramas, for example, "The Perks Of Being A Wallflowers," but if fans of Hermione were taken aback by Watson's more-serious side, seeing her portray an "adult entertainer" will probable give them a heart attack.

But, Watson, upon reading the script, felt she had to do it.

"When I read the script and I realized that essentially it was a meditation on fame and what it's become to our society, I had to do it," Watson told GQ. "The character is everything that I felt strongly against -- she's superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral. She's all of these things and I realized that I hated her. How do you play someone you hate? But I found it really interesting and it gave me a whole new insight into what my job, or my role as an actress, could be."

As far as her preparation for the film, Watson told GQ that it was all about "watching a ton of reality TV."

"I was doing an English course [at Brown University]. So I would go from reading Virginia Woolf to [watching] Kim Kardashian. I kind of loved it, this mix of super-high and super-low culture. I think it was a nice balance."
