Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. is a Great Way to Enjoy Spring

The calendar says it's spring, but when you step outside it certainly doesn't feel like it. Luckily, April is here, and with it, the cherry blossom bloom so popular in Washington, D.C.

There is an annual festival, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which is a great way to enjoy the floral blooms. The festival started on the first day of spring and will continue until April 14. Peak bloom is in early April.

In addition to the National Cherry Blossom Festival, there are numerous other ways to enjoy the cherry blossoms:

The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, which runs along Constitution Avenue on April 13, and features celebrity performances, balloons, floats and marching bands from across the country. There is grandstand seating, which can be purchased for $20, though there is no charge to view the parade along its route.

The Tidal Basin Cherry Tree Location Map provides a walking self-guided tour around the Tidal Basin, and has interesting facts about the history of the trees that you can learn along the tour.

Whichever way you choose to view them, the cherry blossoms are a beautiful way to start your spring.
