Jim Carrey eBay Backlash After Twitter Rant and Video Mocking Gun Owners (VIDEO)

Jim Carrey is receiving backlash after making a Funny or Die video that mocked former NRA President Charlton Heston and disparages gun owners. An eBay user has since posted a listing that reads, "Jim Carrey Autographed 8X10 Photo So I Can Afford a Gun!"

The listing was for a black and white photo of the actor with the inscription, "Spank you very much!" It had attracted 103 bidders and the price had risen to $860.

It led to a trend of users selling Jim Carrey paraphernalia by advertising that the proceeds would be used for gun purchases. One user even posted a photograph of the gun he intended to purchase. Others were pledging to use the money to join the NRA, take gun classes or apply for a concealed-carry permit.

"I'm selling this Jim Carrey autographed B&W photo (mint condition) for purposes I cannot explain because it might be against eBay's Terms & Conditions," the description of the auction was later changed to read.

EBay has not commented on the incident.

However, users were outspoken, posting comments such as, "In the hopes Carrey will see this: I will NOT be seeing KICK-ASS 2 when it is released."

"I would just like to encourage the winning bidder in this noble cause to bring the prize to the range for proper disposal," another post read.

By late Wednesday, all of the comments had been removed from the site.

Carrey's movie, "Kick-Ass 2" opens on Aug. 16, and there is evidence in a poll conducted by the Hollywood Reporter that more than 40 percent of conservative moviegoers will boycott a film for political reasons.

In addition to Carrey's video, he also posted a series of tweets where he called those against additional gun control an expletive.

Carrey also posted a tweet saying that a lot of the autographs being auctioned are inauthentic.

"Jokes on both buyer and seller. Not to mention the karma. Your luck will be bad."
