AirAsia has announced that it will start direct flights to Visakhapatnam, a city in India, from April 26, 2024. This route will have flights three times a week. Visakhapatnam, often called 'Vizag', is known for its beautiful landscapes, historic sites, and traditional festivals. The city is also famous for its Andhra cuisine and beaches.
To celebrate this new route, AirAsia is offering special fares. In a report released by Breaking Travel News, tickets are on sale until Feb. 14. Prices start at RM199 for a one-way ticket from Malaysia and INR4,999 from Visakhapatnam to Kuala Lumpur. These rates are available for travel between April 26, 2024, and March 19, 2025. Travelers can book through the AirAsia Superapp.

He highlighted that Visakhapatnam is the fourth new route to India introduced by AirAsia this year. He emphasized AirAsia's commitment to affordable travel and connecting different cultures.
In addition to Visakhapatnam, AirAsia has recently announced new routes to three other Indian cities: Thiruvananthapuram, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. The airline already operates flights to several cities in south and north India, including Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, New Delhi, and Amritsar. These expansions show AirAsia's dedication to providing more travel options at lower costs, bridging people and cultures.
AirAsia Launches Innovative Ticketing Platform MOVETIX
AirAsia has recently launched MOVETIX, an innovative ticketing platform in collaboration with Coras, a global ticket distribution company. MOVETIX, introduced on the AirAsia MOVE app, offers over 10,000 global events and activities. This platform not only provides tickets for events but also complements them with flights, hotels, rides, and more, all in one app.
MOVETIX is led by Hassan Choudhury, an experienced entertainment industry professional and CEO of RedRecords, a joint venture between AirAsia and Universal Music. The platform is powered by Coras, which boasts partnerships with several major airlines like Ryanair and Frontier.
In a significant development, MOVETIX has been appointed the official ticketing partner for the StarHub Football Festival, scheduled for April 20-21 in Singapore. This festival will feature a match with English Premier League and Singapore legends such as David James and Dwight Yorke. Tickets are available on the AirAsia MOVE app, ranging from SGD60 for adults to a family package at SGD150. A part of the ticket sales will be donated to the Dyslexic Association and HCA Hospice Care.
