Gamescom 2017 Will Have More Than 38 Countries Participating, Up 12% From Last Year

People who will be attending the Gamescom this year will be in for a great treat as more than 38 countries are expected to be represented this year. This is up 12 percent compared to last year's exhibit and it promises to "set new standards."

According to a report from IGN, the Gamescom 2017 will be taking place on August 22 until the 26th in Cologne, Germany. It is believed that 70 percent of the planned space has already been booked for the show, meaning a lot of exhibitors will be participating.

The report said that companies like Bandai Namco, Wargaming, astragon Entertainment, Bigpoint, Square Enix, Ubisoft, CD Projekt, Deep Silver, Konami, Microsoft, Kalypso Media, EA, GREY BOX, and Warner Bros. will be participating in this year's event. The focus of the Gamescom 2017 will be on hardware, indie development, and eSports tournaments.

The organizers said that the exhibitors from other countries are up by 12 percent this year compared to last. It is a welcome development for the organizers and the diversity and variety of the exhibit promise to "set new standards" to the event.

Not much has been mentioned as to what kind of games or new products attendees would likely see during Gamescom 2017. But Wccftech reports that there's a possibility that Square Enix might reveal a new game during the event.

"Shadow of the Tomb Raider" was anticipated to be revealed during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017 in June. But the report said that Senior Community Manager of the franchise Meagan Marie mentioned that E3 will be a quiet one for Lara Croft.

This leads to speculation that Gamescom 2017 will be the venue that the new game will be announced. This also indicates that March 2018 could be the release date of the said game. Check out the best trailers of Gamescom 2016 to have an idea of what to expect this year.
