"Kong: Skull Island" has just recently premiered in the U.S on March 10 successfully, and it was quite a blast for the viewers. The aforementioned monster film is a reboot of the popular "King Kong" franchise and also represents as the second film in the Legendary Pictures MonsterVerse.
According to Comicbook, the film was victorious upon overlapping the Marvel film "Logan" at the box office, and it has also taken first place on its weekend premiere. However, the monster film's total earnings cannot match that of its competition. The film has a higher budget to cope which is twice the budget spent for the "Logan" which is $97 million.
"Kong: Skull Island" is also at an advantage against "Logan" because the competitor is R-rated and this has prohibited young viewers from being able to watch it until it becomes available for home media. If ever "Logan" was released for home media, the wave of the tide might change for the monster film. During the competition's second weekend at the box office, it has dropped approximately 58% to earn $37.8 million, which has put "Logan's" domestic box office at an estimated total around $152.6 million.
It was directed by Jordan Vorg-Roberts and was written by Dan Gilroy, Max Borenstein and Derek Connolly. The film has recently debuted and was able to take first place at the domestic box office as per IGN. Surprisingly, the success was above the expectations for both Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. The monster film has earned between $45 million and $50 last weekend.
The estimated total earnings of "Kong: Skull Island" is roughly about $61 million. However, the total budget for the film was $185 million for its production, and probably the film will be relying to earn more profits when it premieres internationally. Both Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures will considerably take the film as a success if it can reach approximately $500 million worldwide.
On the other hand, the film won't be debuting in China until another two weeks though it has so far made $81.6 million in international markets. Watch the trailer of "Kong: Skull Island" below and subscribe for more updates!
