‘Final Fantasy VII' Remake: Players Can Switch To Other Characters During Battle & Hide To Avoid Battle

It looks the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will be very different from the original game, especially when it comes to the battle mode, as players will be able to avoid them if they want. Players will also have the ability to switch to different characters to control them during battle.

In an interview with Japanese video game magazine Famitsu (translated by Gematsu) the director of the game Tetsuya Nomura provided more details about the "Final Fantasy VII" remake, which released some footages at the MAGIC 2017 last month in Monaco. One of the images showed was Cloud hiding behind a crate while enemies are shooting at him.

Nomura said that in the remake of the game, players won't just be marching on a straight path and random encounters won't happen as well. He said the game is designed in a way that will allow players to sneak around, hide from enemies or throw grenades at them from a distance and avoid a confrontation to make things more realistic.

Of course, he also said that for players who finds this a chore to do can just march forward and engage the enemies. The director also said that they are making use of the wide space available to the players, so it won't be similar to the original where it's just a linear battle as players can move around.

Another feature that Nomura shared is the ability to switch the characters that the players are controlling during battle. He said this could be used for tactical purposes, such as using Barret and his Gatling gun arm against enemies that are at a distance instead of Cloud.

GameRant reports that these new features will be enjoyed by players who enjoyed the battle mode update the franchise provided with "Final Fantasy 15." But for traditionalists, this will not be a welcome update.

The game is still currently under development and will be exclusive to PlayStation 4. Check out the gameplay trailer for the "Final Fantasy VII" remake in the video below.
