Manchester has recently witnessed the opening of its first beach-themed dog café in Wythenshawe where dog owners and their pups to play and lounge all day.
The place was built by Tony and Tania Golden who incorporated other services like dog day care, home dog boarding, dog grooming, and dog walking.
The couple started a dog care center five years ago, and upon realizing the need to expand the business, they purchased a 14,000 square foot warehouse and turned it into a café-dog center. Tony Golden told the Mancunian Matters: "As the warehouse is surrounded by business parks, we wanted to give people a place to escape the rainy weather and have their lunch break on the 'beach.' My wife and I have worked with dogs for years now, it really is the best career ever."
The couple has moved into a bigger house and prepared more space to accommodate the dogs. However, it was their former home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina that has inspired them to have a beach-decorated café in the UK.
The establishment even has a sandbox for the pups to dig and hide their wares as well as some beach chairs to go with the theme. The place also has a giant trampoline where the dogs can play and skip when they can.
While having their dogs getting pampered or fetched from an overnight stay, customers can wait and take a bite in the establishment. People can also leave their dogs at the café while they're at work. Meanwhile, those who are under stress can have a day full of animal therapy with the establishment's 30 or more adopted and rescued dogs.
The Goldens work with other animal welfare groups in fostering and matching dogs to their forever homes. For more information, they can be contacted on their Facebook page.
