Life-Size Gundam Will Be Replaced By The Popular Unicorn Gundam In Tokyo This Coming Fall

This 2017 the life-size mecha statue located in Tokyo has been taken down and will be replaced by one of the most popular mecha models in Gundam History, the Unicorn Gundam. The new life-size mecha statue is from the anime TV series entitled "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn."

According to Crunchyroll, a lot of mecha fans may have mourned such a big loss since; the life-size RX-78-2 statue from "Mobile Suit Gundam" was taken down as of 5th of March 2017. A lot of people witnessed the downfall of the statue to pay their respects to such a legend. However, on the bright side a new mecha model is all set to be built in the same location of the statue that has been demolished. This may be something that mecha fans will get excited about.

The new model was declared via the official Gundam Fan Club smart phone app, which has also featured an exclusive interview with the director Fukui of the "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn" series. On the other hand, the mecha original from Japan might also be considered the iconic symbol of Asia when it comes to originality. Which is more or less similar to the famed "Star Wars" in the West.

As per Forbes, they have reported that the new mecha replacing the RX-78-2 Gundam statue will be replaced by a 24 meters tall Unicorn Gundam statue. That value is 6 meters taller than the previous statue since it was only 18 meters tall, and that might be a very much appreciated increase in size for the mecha fans. The model of the new statue will also be in its Destroy Mode, which has been revealed through a promotional image that was released online.

It is of assurance that the uprising Gundam Unicorn statue will be worth to wait and see. This might even surpass the tourist visits the previous statue has earned, and might also be another popular tourist attraction in Japan.
