Gintoki Sakata and his comedian group are coming back in "Gintama" Season 4, which will start streaming on Crunchyroll on the 8th of January 2017. The first episode of the new season will air on Sunday in Japan, and will be streamed at the same time on Crunchyroll.
According to Anime News Network, the streaming of the upcoming season will also be available worldwide however, Asia is not included. The new series will be scheduled for a late night timeslot in Japan on the 9th of January at 1:35am, and it will be aired on TV Tokyo, TV Hokkaido, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting. It will also be airing on TV Osaka on the 10th of January at 1:05am. On the other hand, the previous season of "Gintama" anime series was aired on TV Tokyo and its partner stations at 6:00pm.
Chizuru Miyawaki comes back to direct the "Gintama" Season 4, and Shinji Takeuchi comes back to design the characters, and will also be serving as the chief animation director. A credit was given to Yumi Nakamura for the design, and Nami Maniwa and Takayoshi Fukushima also came back as the art directors. Ritsuko Utagawa also returned back for the color design. Yuki Teramoto will once again be the director of photography, and Tomomi Suzuki will return as the CGI director. Lastly, Takeshima Seyama will be the one in charge of editing.
The upcoming season's music was composed by Audio Highs, and the sound supervision is under the management of Katsuyoshi Kobayashi. The sound director of the new season is Shinji Takematsu, and Yoichi Fujita will be supervising the anime. Furthermore, the opening theme song of the anime "Kagerō" will be performed by the all-girls band ЯeaL and the ending theme song "Silver" will be performed by RIZE.
According to Crunchyroll, "Gintama" Season 4 is about a world where aliens have conquered Japan in the Edo Period, skyscrapers, trains and motorbikes have substituted the simple life of Earth inhabitants. Still with the strong resolve of one man named Gintoki Sakata he will face the challenges together with his buddies. This is another comedy journey for the group of Gintoki Sakata, and of course that is what makes the "Gintama" series very popular.
