Trump's Muslim Ban Cost US Tourism a Massive $185M

The recent Muslim Ban imposed by US President Donald Trump has been costing America so much. According to reports, at present the US Tourism has already lost a massive $185M because of the ban.

The so-called ban seems to have been opposed to even by those people not affected directly by the executive order. This is because the travel ban is costing the country's industry millions of dollars.

Numerous reports have disclosed that interest in both business and leisure travel to the US relatively plummeted since Mr. Trump took office. Allegedly, this was also due to his Muslim ban pronouncement. The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) is approximating that the US lost about $185m in travel bookings as a result of the uncertainty that dented travelers' confidence.

Aside from decline in the number of searches in most US favorite destinations or tourist spots, there are other factors that were affected by the ban. Although flight prices remained stable for all destinations, the average prices for hotel rooms in Las Vegas fell by 39 per cent on average. This decline was also felt in San Francisco, recently experiencing 34 percent drop. In addition, New York has similar case which has hotel room prices dropped to 32 percent.

Travel Expert, Suzanne Perry, at Kayak, said that the story of the summer is the fall of interest in the US. She added that the searches to the US plummeted soon after the new President was sworn into office. The trend, however, appears to last longer than earlier estimated, she further added. According to Perry, historically, the US has been one of the most popular countries for the Brits, however, searches to famous destinations are falling by over half in one year is a massive change. She predicted that with hotel prices significantly dropping, it may only be a matter of time before airlines follow suit. It will be interesting to see if the travel industry can bounce back in 2018.
