The winter finale of "The Blacklist" Season 4 showed a major shocker. It has been revealed that Red is poisoned by someone unexpected. The episode just made it clear that this series is full of surprising plots and twists.
"The Blacklist" Season 4 Episode 15 opened with Red being told by a doctor that he is dying. Liz and the rest of the team race against time to save Red, who is lethally poisoned. The team is going to hunt down the culprit to hopefully find an antidote.
The synopsis for "The Apothecary" episode says that Red must find out who among the his closest confidants betrayed him. According to TV Fanatic, this episode was all about racing against time. For a moment there, some fans thought that that really was the end of Red, but it's going to be so hard to imagine the series without him.
Now, while Red is looking for the identity of the person who poisoned him, he found a woman in the trunk of the car, and when he asked who did that to her, she said: "Is that a sick joke? You did!" This woman said that she heard the name of the guy where he found her, and it's Marvin Gerard.
Meanwhile, Liz found a video of a man name Robert Dolly who has poisoned his wife, Helen Dolly, after he cheated on her. The manner was similar to how Red was poisoned, leading Liz to believe that Robert hired a character known as the The Apothecary to poison her. The team then talked to Robert's mistress who claimed that she has nothing to do with the wife's murder, but she knows that he did it using an eye drop that he gave her.
Liz and Ressler were able to locate the house of Asa Hightower, and found that the he is The Apothecary. When Ressler interrogates him, The Apothecary gave them and antidote, but he said that his client contacts him anonymously, only to find out in the end that Dembe poisoned him, Entertainment Weekly said. But some fans say that Dembe may not really be a bad guy, and that there may be more to this story. We'd have to wait until "The Blacklist" Season 5 to find out.
