After a series of trial and error, Warner Bros. is making another move to fix the already disoriented Dc Extended Universe. They are giving a Chris McKay the directing role for a live-action film featuring one of the most important characters in the DC universe, Nightwing. McKay is given his first live feature film following the huge success of his latest animated comedy film, "The LEGO Batman Movie".
There are many persons who wore the iconic red, green and yellow suit of Robin who became a sidekick for the caped crusader. However, only one of those teenagers have actual emerged as the Nightwing, Dick Grayson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grayson was the first to take up the role of Robin after his family was tragically killed in a faked circus accident.
Grayson was adopted by Bruce Wayne and eventually joined him in fighting the crime in Gotham City. When he grew up he founded his own group of superheroes named "Teen Titans" and finally leaving the Robin identity and adopting the name Nightwing. Fans consider Nightwing as a great choice for a live-action movie because of his bright nature which will give some lightness to the already dark DC extended universe.
Compared to the rival Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC is far from projected goals with each of their films encountering huge problems. The upcoming standalone "Batman" film have only just found a director in Matt Reeves while "Suicide Squad" was lambasted by critics whilst the film grossed quite a fortune. Also, the huge problem is where to insert Nightwings story in the already complicated timeline.
McKay's experience directing the hit comedy parody will be an essential asset for the upcoming film. Considering that a light mood required in Nightwing's character, McKay is surely one of the top choice to make as reported by The Verge. However, a Nightwing solo movie right off the bat will be virtually impossible. Hopefully, Warner Bros. will lay some backstories and groundworks for their upcoming films and will learn from their past mistakes.
