After finally tying the knot with high profile barrister Amal Alamuddin in 2014, George Clooney is entering a new phase in his life with the upcoming birth of his twins. Hollywood's favorite A-list star starts to open up about his new role as a father and how his celebrity friends reacted when he broke the good news to them.
55-year-old and about to become a first-time dad, Clooney, admits that he is still haunted by jitters whenever he thinks about what is about to come in his life. In an interview with French media outlet, Paris Match, and picked up by People Magazine, the veteran actor got candid when asked how he is coping with the nerves brought about Amal's pregnancy.
"How can we not be anxious about this immense responsibility?" he pondered. "Bringing a child into this world ... even two! We are very happy, very excited, but also a bit nervous, it's normal."
For months, rumors regarding the high-profile pregnancy have rounded the web with Clooney's wife noticeably opting for shift dresses and loose sweaters compared to her usually tailored sartorial choices. But the welcomed development was only confirmed earlier this month.
Given that the Clooneys are known to tackle sensitive global issues and travel to conflicted parts of the world, the filmmaker-actor also revealed that they are suspending some of their trips in the meantime. The birth of the twins, whose sexes are still undetermined despite claims of being a boy and a girl, is expected sometime this June. Until then, the married couple will be opting for a low profile, less stressful next couple of months.
"We decided to be much more responsible, to avoid the danger," the well-known humanitarian said. "I won't go to South Sudan anymore or the Congo, Amal will no longer go to Iraq and she'll avoid places where she knows she isn't welcome."
George Clooney, who is known to have pulled pranks on his famous friends all throughout the years, also shared that his celebrity squad did not pass up on the chance of teasing him about his unusual situation upon learning about his barrister wife's pregnancy. Matt Damon, who is among the three-time "Golden Globe Award" winning actor's circle of friends, previously admitted during his guesting appearance on the "Today" show that he knew about the good news months before it broke out, adding that his friend personally told him last fall.
