Paris Navigating Gym: A Boat Powered By The Passenger's Workouts

Going to the gym or even just exercising at your homes takes discipline and motivation. This is why a lot of fitness institutions have created new concepts to make exercise more exciting and interesting. Now, Paris Navigating Gym has developed a new idea of a boat powered by the passengers' workout.

This futuristic idea was developed by an Italian firm Carlo Ratti Associati. The concept of the design was to show how much energy can be generated from a gym workout and how it can be used to power up a boat.

The length of the gym boat is 65 feet long and it has transparent windows that would give the passengers a nice view while it cruises through Paris' River Siene. According to the Daily Mail, It can hold up to 45 individuals exercising on spinning bikes and cross trainers.

According to Carlo Ratti, the Paris Navigating Gym features Technogym's ARTIS machines that are customized sports equipments capable of converting human energy to another type of energy ready for future use. This mechanism aims to study the use of human energy and innovative ways to incorporate the river for the city's transportation.

It is a tribute to the Bateaux Mouches, the traditional ferry-boats. The transparent glass wall gives a breathtaking view of the river and the urban city. Aside from being a mode of transportation, it can also be used as a night venue for parties and celebration.

The boat has specialized screens that enable passengers to monitor the energy they produce and the environmental condition of Seine in coordination with real-time tracking. Though this innovative design is still in progress, co-founder Mitchell Joachim says it a doable project that holds great potential to benefit the future generations.
