"Yowamushi Pedal New Generation" finally showcased the season's first heart throbbing race in Episode 6 that was aired last February 13. Titled 'Naruko Vs Midousuji', the action-packed episode displayed the grudge match from start to finish. This match holds the deciding factor on whether Naruko will continue being a sprinter or switch as an all rounder.
First and foremost, the two character have very little history with each other even on the past seasons of the anime. They have very little interaction that in fact this is the first time that they had an conversation on their own. However, that match up proved to be better than expected as they both have pure desire of winning any challenges.
Both of them are soul searching, finding a way to evolve and exceed their limits. Naruko came to Osaka all the way form Chiba just for this purpose. On the other hand, Midousuji was searching for a worthy challenger who can push him get over his slump after losing the Inter-High.
They met unexpectedly in a track which Naruko claimed to be his home turf. The two agreed to race with a special condition, betting something important for each of them as reported by Manga Tokyo. The two decided to have a six kilometer race which is actually a 10-lap race in biking track.
The race started of with thrash talking on both sides calling each other funny nicknames like turle-suji and chicken-headed bean. Fans will really feel the excitement especially with clashing of the bikes handlebars when they collided with each other. The scenes would make the fans root for Naruko particularly when Midousuji's iconic amphibious features are shown.
Suddenly, the episode when into a weird turn during Midousuji's transformation. According to Anime News Network, the level of grossness make the show different to watch. He is portrayed in a weird insectiod body shedding its skin and growing grasshopper wings as he found his brand new riding form.
With Midousuji's evolution, Naruko became desperate to keep his lead throwing his lead and he throw away his water bottle and even his saddle. However, the new and evolved ace proved to be too much for Naruko to overcome and the race ended with a win for the Kyoto Fushimi ace.
