Paramount Pictures had come out with a full trailer for "Ghost in the Shell," following the short teaser during Super Bowl LI. The new trailer has revealed the first new look for the villain cyborg Kuze and more plot details about the movie.
According to a report from Adam White of The Telegraph, the new trailer has revealed new information about the movie. The trailer showed Scarlet Johansson, who plays the cyborg counter-terrorism agent Major Motoko Kusanagi, investigating a new threat to cyber-security.
But in the course of her investigation, she discovered a dark secret about her own identity, White adds. The trailer, which ComingSoon.net uploaded on their YouTube channel, also gave a first real look at the cyborg villain Kuze, to be played by Michael Pitt.
The video showed that it seems like Kuze knows something about The Major's past and about the organization that she is currently working with. The Major can also be seen asking "how many were there before me."
Towards the end of the video, a voice can be heard saying "she was supposed to have a clean brain...I order you to terminate." Then at the end, Johansson can be heard saying "they created me, but they cannot control me."
Joining Johansson and Pitt in the movie is Pilou Asbæk of "Game of Thrones," who will be playing The Major's partner Batou, according to Game Spot. Takeshi Kitano and Juliette Binoche is also part of the movie.
The casting of Johansson was actually a source of controversy. Filmmakers were accused of "whitewashing" because the role of The Major was originally Japanese in the manga and in the anime.
Johansson, though, addressed the criticism and said she would never presume to play another race of a person. She adds that diversity is important in Hollywood and she would never want to feel like she "was playing a character that was offensive."
"Ghost in the Shell" is set to premiere on March 31, 2017. Check out the latest trailer of the movie in the video below.
