Nougat 6P Guide: Steps On How To Root Nexus 6P To Android 7.1.1 Nougat

Google has started rolling out February security updates to Nexus and Pixel devices. This move brings Android 7.1.1 Nougat officially to Nexus 6P. Here are the steps to update and root Nexus 6P to Android 7.1.1 Nougat official firmware.

Required Files

In order to root Nexus 6P to Android 7.1.1 Nougat you are required to first download Android SDK and install it. Set it up with platform-tools and USB drivers' package in SDK. After that, download SuperSU v2.79 for your Nexus device on your PC. In addition, be sure to have a custom recovery tool like CWM, or TWRP: TWRP 3.0.2.0 for Nexus 6P. Steps to Nexus 6P to Android 7.1.1 Nougat

In order to root Nexus 6P to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, first, connect your Nexus 6P to your computer using the USB. After that, copy and paste SuperSu zip file to your device's SD card root folder. Once done, turn off your Nexus 6P device. You will need to enter the Bootloader mode. To do this, switch Nexus 6P on while pressing and holding Volume Down + Power keys all at one. Go to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory and open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt). Type the following command: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-angler.img - replace with twrp-3.0.2-2 if you used the latest recovery version.

In the recovery mode, scroll to flash zip from SD card, then choose zip from SD card. Next, using the volume keys, find the SuperSU-v2.79 zip file and select it.
