Las Vegas Sands Provides Free Holiday Trip For Wounded Veterans

It may not be Veteran's Day, Memorial Day or even the 4th of July, but it is the holiday season after all and Veterans should deserve respect all year, so the Las Vegas Sands is honoring them in a big way. They are giving 40 wounded veterans and their families a three-day holiday vacation.

The veterans and their families will get transportation, hotel stays, a cookout and entertainment, completely free. Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson is allowing his private plane to be used to fly the veterans and their families to Las Vegas from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, Va., according to the Associated Press.

It is expected that the group will arrive at Las Vegas on Wednesday and will leave on Saturday morning.

During their visit, the veterans will be able to stay at the Venetian and the Palazza on the Las Vegas Strip. They will be honored at a cookout that is sponsored by Omaha Steaks. They will also receive free tickets to a Tim McGraw and Faith Hill concert.

Patricia Driscoll, president of the Armed Forces Foundation believes the trip will help the wounded veterans "deal with the hardships of recovery," according to AP.

The Sands isn't the only one in the travel industry who has helped veterans. In July, Southwest Airlines provided veterans with free travel to visit the Veteran's memorials in Washington D.C.

Princess Cruise Lines will be holding a special Veterans Day cruise in 2013 that will benefit Veterans charities.
