Marvel Television and FX Original Series join forces in preparation for the new television show, "Legion" which is based on a mutant from the X-Men comic series. It is set to premiere on Feb. 8 on the FX television network.
"Legion" tells the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens), a young man, diagnosed with Schizophrenia who has multiple personalities with each having its own distinct powers. The television series was brought into being by Noah Hawley and, aside from Stevens, stars Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart, Rachel Keller, and Jemaine Clement.
The show has so far been well received by critics with Rotten Tomatoes giving "Legion" an average tomatometer of 100 per cent. However, Maureen Ryan of Variety asserts that fans of the superhero genre's tried and true modes may not appreciate the new series. Ryan adds that Dan Steven's performance as David Haller is the glue that keeps the show from flying apart.
The Hollywood Reporter's Tim Goodman suggests that one should lock himself up in a rubber room and binge-watch "Legion." Goodman described the first episode of the show as a visual thrill ride of disconnected narratives that are mind blowing and, at times, purposefully confusing.
Rob Owen of Pittsburgh Post Gazette writes that the show is strangely satisfying. He says the "Legion" is distinct from another one of Marvel television series, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Unlike the latter, the former does not have weekly missions, at least not in the first three episodes. He adds that the new show has a serialized story which initially focuses on helping David escape the clutches of a presumably evil faction.
Will "Legion" be as good as the critics claim it is? You can see for yourself! Watch the first episode which premieres on Feb. 8 on FX at 10 pm EST.
