Rockstar is in high spirits because of the prevalent success of "GTA 5 Online." The company has reportedly begun the production of the highly speculated "GTA 6' video game franchise.
The speculations started from Rockstar Games' apparent decision to reduce the release of downloadable content (DLC) for "GTA 5 Online." If speculations circulating profusely all over the internet are to be believed, "GTA 5 Online" will end as soon as Rockstar releases "Red Dead Redemption 2". Seemingly, the game publisher will slow down the release of the latest updates for the hit online mode of "GTA 5" in 2017. Moreover, it is speculated that it will fully put a hold on updates succeeding the release of "RDR2" in fall.
A blogger under the username Yan 2995 additionally claims that the game developer Rockstar North is currently divided into four parts leaving just a few developers to work on "GTA 5 Online." With a fewer developer working on the game, it seems that the upcoming updates cannot be as immense as they have always been. Moreover, Yan noted that several developers working previously on "GTA 5 Online" have been reassigned. At present, they are tasked with developing "Red Dead Redemption 2" and "GTA 6." Furthermore, the blog cites the anticipation building for the upcoming games, it is not anymore a surprise if "GTA 5 Online" is no longer the top priority of Rockstar Games.
The claim by the blog makes a lot of sense. However, Gaming Bolt claims that the team behind the alleged "GTA 6" and "RDR2" titles have not confirmed or denied these speculations. Even if "RDR2" is in the works, "GTA" enthusiasts will still need the latest content in order to stay engaged to the current "Grand Theft Auto" game until "GTA 6" is released.
