The Museum of Death showcases the artworks of famous serial killers. Apart from that, it is also home to macabre exhibits.
Museum of Death is a museum with locations in Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. J. D. Healy and Catherine Shultz established it in June 1995 with the museum's stated goal being able to make people happy to be alive.
The Museum of Death was originally founded in San Diego in 1995. Proprietor James Healy in 2000, transferred the museum to its current location in Los Angeles. The Museum then expanded to what is now the largest collection of serial murderer artwork, photos of the Manson crime scenes, original photos from the Dahlia Murders, and other such relics of the fatal, violent and macabre.
The Museum of Death also exhibits the severed, guillotined head of Henri Landru. In addition, it has a body bag and coffin collection, full-size replicas of torture devices, mortician and autopsy instruments as well as pictures and video of such in use. Moreover, The Museum of Death also includes taxidermy showcases and the Heaven's Gate Cult recruiting video among others.
The Museum of Death is a must-see destination for people with inclinations to the macabre; this is for their inner ghoul. The museum is a self-guided tour that lasts about an hour, but, of course, you are welcome to stay as long as you like or as long as you can, reported Atlas Obscura.
As of 2014, the Healy couple had launched a new branch of the Museum of Death in New Orleans called Musee de Mort Orleans. The new museum branch has around 12,000 square meters of space, allowing more of the collection to be displayed. The limited space at the California museum only allows a third of the items available be shown at one time.
