The Leap Castle in Ireland is frighteningly haunted. Several TV shows have chosen the site to film, and conduct documentaries about the reportedly paranormal activities in the place.
Leap Castle is located in the town of Roscrea. The O'Bannon family built it in the 15th century for the ruling clan of the O'Carrolls. The Earl of Kildare once tried to seize the castle in 1513 but he was unsuccessful. He tried again after three years and he was able to partially demolish it. The O'Carrolls got the castle back in 1557.
Paranormal Accounts
During the Leap Castle's renovation, workers discovered a dungeon where people were locked away to die. The bottom of the shaft are spiked. When the dungeon was cleaned out, there were three cartloads of human bones unearthed. The castle is owned by Sean Ryan since 1991 and has conducted several restorations works to bring back the Leap Castle's glory.
One of the terrifying being, which is believed to reside in Leap Castle is dubbed as IT. Haunted Rooms describe IT as a small creature about the size of a sheep and has a decaying face. IT is convoyed by the smell of sulfur and that of a decaying corpse.
Mildred Darby, one of the previous owners, was said to have dabbled in the occult, as it was the fashion in those days. It was Mildred Darby's activity, which people theorized as the reason for the awakening of the occult in the Leap Castle. She wrote about her frightening ordeal back in 1909, which she detailed, on having met a thing, about the size of the sheep with a gaunt inhuman face. It has black cavities for eyes and it has the smell of a decomposing corpse.
Shadows are also seen walking in the Priest's House of the Leap Castle. The Priest's House has been emptied since the burning in 1922. A robust man has been seen pushing a weighty barrel up the stairs and when he gets to the top, the barrel rolls down and then the man and the barrel disappear. In addition, there is the Murder Hole Room, also called the Muckle Hole Room. There is a blood stain on the floor of the room and it is said to be that of the man who was knifed to death by his own brother as they quarreled for ownership of the Leap Castle.
The Red Lady has been seen carrying in a dagger in her hand and raising it in a menacing manner as if wanting to stab someone is also reportedly in the Leap Castle. Apart from that, two young girls have been seen and heard playing in Leap Castle.
