It looks like fans of "The Walking Dead" will be seeing new characters and new locations when the second half of season 7 returns. The show's producers also admitted to toning down the violence level, following strong viewer backlash.
Entertainment Weekly, as part of their 25 Scoops in 25 Days promo, shared a photo of the TV series showing Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) talking to a new character, possibly a woman, in a new junkyard setting location. AMC' synopsis for season 7B did say the group will be meeting new people.
"We'll meet new survivors in incredible places," the synopsis read. No other information is given about the new character or the new location, and the report said that it's possible these new people is related to the mysterious stranger wearing boots that was spying on Alexandria at the end of the midseason finale.
EW said that Alexandria, The Kingdom, The Hilltop, and probably even Oceanside will be banding together to take on Negan, and this new group could probably join the battle. Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, said the battle scenes of the show will be "epic."
Fans can also expect the violence level of "The Walking Dead" to be toned down following the "strong viewer backlash" that came from horridly killing off two characters during the season opener.
"We were able to look at the feedback on the level of violence," Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd said. "We did tone it down for episodes we were still filming for later on in the season."
Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) was gruesomely killed in the season opener by Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan). Negan had beaten both characters to death using a baseball bat covered in barbed wire.
Hurd said the response to this scene made an impact on the team, adding that the hit TV series is not "torture porn." She adds that they strongly considered not "crossing the line again." Check the latest promo phot of season 7B of "The Walking Dead."
