After twelve seasons, "Bones", Fox's longest running scripted drama, will say goodbye. The last scenes were shot on December 9 fans can expect a roller coaster ride as the rest of the finale unfolds.
According to Hollywood Reporter, David Boreanaz, who stars as Special Agent Seeley Booth, directed the finale, and he called "cut" a little early so that cast and crew could do a picture together. The series finale will probably be aired sometime in spring of this year, reports say.
The final-season opener is titled "The Hope in the Horror", and it marks Emily Deschanel's (Dr. Temperance Brennan) directorial debut, and she said the finale made her emotional. Deschanel also said that she didn't know that that was it. The star also added that she thought she would be working the next day. "It was a bit of a shock, honestly, and I fell into a puddle of tears," she added.
Season 11 implied that the recurring villain is former intern, Zack Addy. The final episode of season 11 showed Zack attacking Brennan, and some images released from Season 12 hinted that the final season will pick up from this storyline. Fans were left wondering if Zack really is the Puppeteer or just an accomplice.
Season 12 debuts January 3, Entertainment Weekly reported. Season 11 ended with Zack kidnapping Brennan, and Booth and the squints are trying hard to save her. The final season will shed light on Zack's true story.
Fans would also be excited to know that "Bones" final season will feature several of the show's biggest guest stars. Betty White and Stephen Fry are expected to return for cameos. Executive producer Michael Peterson says there might be more Bones after the series finale. "The idea of having some kind of reunion in a year or two... I would not rule it out."
