‘The Man in the High Castle’ Season 3 Gets Greenlight From Amazon, New Showrunner Means Breathe Of Fresh Air

Amazon's original hit-series "The Man in the High Castle" has already gotten the greenlight from the company to for a third season. The show will also have a new showrunner, meaning fans can expect some changes, which is a good thing.

According to Amazon's press release, season 2 of the show followed the first season's footsteps, having the most viewers among all of the company's original series during its debut weekend. The second season of "The Man in the High Castle" also had an average customer rating of 4.6 stars.

Joe Lewis, the head of Amazon Studios' Comedy and Drama, said that they are "excited" to have a third season for the show, which they plan to premiere in 2017. "As timely as ever, the exploration of characters at a dark point for humanity has provided incredible stories for two seasons," he said.

Eric Overmyer has been tapped to be the showrunner and the executive producer of the series' third season. Lewis said that Overmyer and his team have already started working on the third season. He said that the team "are doing an incredible job crafting stories about the inner lives of those who struggle to do good in a world that is not."

Cinema Blend reports that having Overmyer for season 3 would mean a breath of fresh air for the show. He replaces Frank Spotnitz, who quit the show as it was already halfway through the production of the second season. The existing production team shared duties in managing the show for the remainder of the season.

Overmyer brings to him an array of experience, having already worked on Showtime's "The Affair," HBO's "Treme," and even Amazon's "Bosch." Amazon made the decision as they were pleased with his work on "Bosch."
