Nintendo Switch Used Some Of Wii U’s Best Features And Installed Them In The Console

The Wii U was a big failure for Nintendo, especially in terms of market share. But that doesn't mean the console didn't offer anything of value, as the Nintendo Switch stole some of the Wii U's best features.

According to Ben Kuchera of Polygon, the Wii U was a great console and Nintendo saw a lot of great potential with it, especially with the portability that it offers. Unfortunately, the company wasn't able to fully bring out the Wii U's potential.

But with the Switch, Nintendo has a chance to showcase the vision they had for the Wii U. Kuchera adds that it was great for the company to use the Wii U's best features as the basis of the Nintendo Switch.

The feature that Kuchera was mentioning is the Wii U's GamePad, which allowed families with many children but not enough TVs to be able to play most of the console's games even without the use of a TV. He adds that the Wii U was also home to Nintendo's first party-games, and with the GamePad, people wouldn't need to have a TV to play these games.

Unfortunately, Nintendo had a hard time telling the general public what the GamePad is for and how best to utilize it. But for those who understand what it is, like Kuchera, they love it.

In an October report, Sam Byford of The Verge actually calls the Nintendo Switch "a smarter, more flexible realization of the Wii U concept." The only problem Nintendo will need to overcome here is to attract non-Nintendo fans into buying into its Nintendo Switch Console. Watch the trailer for the Nintendo Switch below.

In other news, the Nintendo Switch will be coming out with non-removable batteries, according to Nintendo's latest FCC filing. This could pose a problem, especially when it comes to the console's battery life.
