You may be on your way to your dream vacation, but you know you have to suffer hours of air flight with nosy seat passengers and cramped sitting arrangements. How to get a decent sleep through the night's flight without popping pills?
Plan your seat well. You can either choose your seat plan during your booking period or on the flight schedule you have. If it's the former, choose the one on the window pane. You can lie against the seat turning your back away from the rambunctious crowd. If you opt to choose the latter, try looking for a place where the crowd isn't so much.
Bring things that could comfort you. We're not talking about your security blanket, but just about your music, scarves, cap or anything else. Why not bring a book and read? In no time you'll be absorbed into the story's world than what's happening around you. Maybe you'll get sleepy half-way through.
Don't drink alcohol before or during the flight. It has its sedative effects, but it's not wise to drink it on a plane. For all we know, drunkenness could result to aggressiveness. It's a bit dangerous since you're already a bit tense from the rowdy crowd around you. You've heard stories of passengers hitting other travelers because they're drunk right? Try some decaffeinated tea or hot milk.
Don't touch your phones. The light coming from mobile gadgets will keep you awake. If you want to sleep soundly, do away with your tech and divert your attention to something else. We understand that the easiest and the nearest entertainment is your phone, but could you think of something else than that?
De-stress scents. If you have your travel pillow with you, you can spread oils around it and have it hang on your neck. You don't have to bring heavy, over scented aromas on the plane, just small ones that let go a mild odor. It works well with your brain to want to go to sleep too.
