LG Electronics' new and futuristic device, the Levitating Portable Speaker, promises to deliver superb audio performance to its users whether they use it indoors or outdoors. This isn't the first levitating speaker, though, but its features set it apart from the other existing brands.
LG said in its press release published on PR Newswire that their new device, which is called PJ9, has a 360-degree omnidirectional speaker with turbine blade-inspired design at its core, which combined with the deep bass from the subwoofer of the Levitation Station, gives users a great listening experience. It also includes a Dual Passive Radiator technology to that enhances the sound quality of the speaker by producing "flush mid-range tones and crisp highs."
The speaker, which has a 10-hour battery life, hovers in place through the help of electromagnets that are placed on the Levitation Station. The PJ9 is also IPX7 compliant, which means people can listen to great music using the levitating speakers outdoors, even in adverse weather conditions.
"The PJ9 wireless speaker is an exciting combination of audio design and innovation, offering the perfect balance between performance, beauty, and versatility," said Tim Alessi, head of product marketing at LG Electronics USA. He adds that the PJ9 shows LG's commitment "to exploring new concepts and pioneering innovative audio designs for consumers around the world."
LG's Levitating Portable Speaker, though, is not the first product of its kind in the market. Levitating Bluetooth speakers have actually been around for years already.
But according to Engadget, eve, if LG is not the first in the market, its latest product has features that set it apart from its competitors. Chief among them is the 10-hour battery life, which provides users with a longer listening experience. It also has a classy design with its plain, white, egg-shaped speaker and a sturdy chunky base.
The Levitating Portable Speaker will be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2017. People who are attending the event could also see Samsung's new smartphone, which they might unveil at CES 2017. Check out the video of the LG's levitating speakers below.
