Some few good things still happen in 2016. Yesterday, "Suicide Squad" actress Margot Robbie has joined the ranks of married celebrities as she wed her boyfriend, UK-based director Tom Ackerley.
No confirmations have been made by both camps, but it seems like the real deal. The rest of the world has no idea that Robbie was even engaged, even though tons of wedding and engagement rumors about her have been circling this year.
According to MoviePilot, the ceremony was held at Australia's Gold Coast with only a few close relatives and friends to witness the special event. The wedding was not big in celebrity standards, just an overall casual affair set in a picturesque location with Pizza and Barbecue the apparent theme for the whole event.
Rumors started when Robbie arrived at the Gold Coast Airport earlier this month wearing a statement shirt with the caption "Say 'I Do' Down Under". After that, her Instagram posts didn't give much away, just a picture of here enjoying a pink drink, and two weeks ago, she posted a sweet black and white photo of her and boyfriend Ackerley sharing a kiss with the caption, "This guy."
Even though Robbie is now big in Hollywood, she opted to share her most special event with her family in her hometown in Australia. Her boyfriend (now husband) Ackerley didn't make a fuss of them marrying in Robbie's home country as he knows how important it is for her.
"Tom initially wanted to get married in the UK, but he knows how much it means to Margot to tie the knot on home soil and how special it is for her, so he didn't put up much of a fight." A close family source said.
Tom and Robbie met during the set of the World War II movie, "Suite Francaise." Robbie was starring in the movie, and Ackerley worked in the movie as well as an assistant director. After that, they made their relationship official on 2014.
