Facebook Launches New Messenger Games That Will Transport You To The 80s

Facebook has developed another set of games that will have us glued to our phones. Rolling out in the latest version of Messenger iOS and Android, there are 17 Instant Games now available to play, with much more to come, across both Messenger and News Feed in the latest version of the apps, including popular titles from arcade classics to action to other modern favorites.

Facebook's Instant Games includes classics like "Arkanoid, "Galaga," "Pac-Man" and "Space Invaders," as well as bringing in with new funs like "Words with Friends: Frenzy," "Endless Lake" among others.

For now, 30 countries have availed of this entertainment. According to Facebook's press room, you can just "open a conversation with a friend, tap on the game controller icon just below where you type your message and choose a game to start playing right away."

People in the conversation can see your score and has the option to challenge you back. Meanwhile, if you want to play solo, you can open the game room on your Newsfeed. "A dedicated Instant Games bookmark is also available on Facebook where people can view and instantly replay all their favorite titles they previously enjoyed across both platforms," according to Messenger.

Will we see a lot of invites and newsfeed status on our walls? Might be. If we remember correctly, Facebook has already included a couple of hidden games on Messenger like basketball, soccer, and chess to be played by typing in your friend's chat window.

According to Facebook, 1.2 billion games of basketball have been played already. For the giant social media company to expand its gaming experience, Instant Games has to go out to the world.

"The 1 billion people who use Messenger every month connect, banter and share in so many ways," Facebook said. "Now they can connect and compete with their favorite games. We think this is just the beginning for games on Messenger - look for new titles to be added, and for new ways to play. Game on!"
