Uber Releases Set Of Rules To Stop Misconduct From Both Drivers And Riders

Uber is a smartphone application used by many people all over the world. It is a transportation network that provides transportation to people in need of a ride. The Uber drivers nearest to the rider will be alerted to pick up the rider and bring him or her to their destination. Recently, Uber released and declared set of rules and guidelines that should be followed by both drivers and riders using the application.

Last Thursday, Uber issued set of rules and guidelines for the first time since it operated. According to reports from The Guardian and Ports Mouth, these rules are to prevent intolerable misconduct and sexual cases. For the month of October, Uber received four cases of sexual violation that made the end of the year to be an agitating year for the company.

Some of these rules are centered on flirting and mutual respect. According to a statement released by the company, the poor behavior from riders and drivers is not ok and it needs to stop, "Most riders show drivers the respect they deserve. But some don't- whether it's leaving trash in the car, throwing up in the back seat after too much alcohol or asking a driver to break the speed limit so they can get their appointment on time."

Rules such as establishing respect between fellow drivers and rider should be observed. Once riders or drivers break these rules, they may no longer be allowed to use Uber's services. As said by the company, "Any behavior involving violence, sexual misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or illegal activity while using Uber can result in the immediate loss of your account." The company also stressed out on the rules of flirting, saying, "Don't touch or flirt with other people in the car." "As a reminder, Uber has no sex rule. That's no sexual conduct with drivers or fellow riders, no matter what." Bringing of firearms is also prohibited as said in Uber's rules and policies.
