Travel Tips: Where to Stay in Manila, Philippines if You're a Millennial

The Philippine capital of Metro Manila-or Manila-used to be overlooked by travelers, as they would usually focus on the country's islands. Time's are a changing, however. More and more tourists, especially the younger crows, make sure that they spend time in the metro.

From diverse food choices to hip accommodations, this city has loads of things in store for the millennial traveler. The following tips will focus on Makati-a place in Manila where you can find the best bars, food options, and great parties.

Parties - If you like to go to gigs and parties (or both), check out Makati's Salcedo Village Here, you'll find venues like Black Market and 2020/XX XX. These venues always have excellent music, featuring both local and international acts. These parties start late, so you can pregame in smaller bars and restaurant

Casual bars/restaurants- If you're looking for a place for booze and great food, head over to Poblacion. This - is where you'll find small bars that not only give you a wide array of both local and imported beers (cheap ones at that), the food is excellent as well. Check out places like Tambai, El Chupacabra, Senor Pollo, Buckys, Smokehouse-all of which are near one another, so you don't need to take a taxi.

Weekend Markets - If you're in Makati on weekends, there are a number of excellent markets and pop ups that serve delicious, artisanal food, organic fruits and vegetables, local crafts, and so on. Don't miss Salcedo Market (Saturdays) and Legazpi Market (Sundays).

Pro-tip: traffic in Manila is getting worse by the minute, so one great way to enjoy your stay and not spend hours in the car waiting to get to your destination, it's best if you stay near the spots you plan on visiting. This way, you can just walk or take a short taxi/Uber ride to your destination.
