Adidas Stan Smith Boost Drops In February 2017: Here's What We Know So Far

Tennis player Stan Smith might turn his head to the news when Adidas relayed the info that the shoe - not the player - Stan Smith, will be revamping its sole with a full-length Boost cushion technology and will be out in February 2017.

The sneaker will cost $120 and is offered in sizes 4 to 14. Also, coming out with the Smith is Adidas' Superstar with a similar Boost sole technology, and will be sold at $140.

The Boost trend has set Adidas into a new brand, with different people lining up in their stores waiting for the new product. For now, the large shoe brand is teasing its fans with photos of the footwear. It won't be long until everyone has a personal up close look at the Stan Smith and Superstar. What do we know of Adidas Stan Smith through the years?

Well, it was named after the tennis player during the 1960s and 70s after a tennis manager suggested to Adidas that Smith should be the new face of the footwear. The shoe was a hit, selling about 23 million pairs and entered the Guinness Book of Records.

The 2000s saw two versions of the Smith - the Adidas Stan Smith II and Adidas Stan Smith 80s. It brought roughly $65 million and had sold over 30 million, overpassing its previous record. The world saw it as the biggest selling tennis shoe ever.

Adidas stopped marketing the line in 2012 and re-launched in 2014 to give fans the chance to customize their sneakers. Now, with the release of the new Smith with Boost technology, we can only speculate how customers react to this change.

We barely have two months left, and combining the popularity of the shoe back then and the trend the Boost technology has, the fans go like "waiting in vain."
