Adidas Unveils Jeremy Lin’s First Ever Signature Sneakers “Linsanity Mid”

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin now has his very own line of signature shoes as sportswear giant Adidas unveiled on Tuesday the Linsanity Mid, which is scheduled to be released in the forthcoming Jeremy Lin X Collection.

Lin, who is averaging 11.8 points and 5.1 dimes per game in his first season the purple and gold, has become one of the most marketable players in the NBA, thanks to his growing fan base in Asia and in the United States.

According to Sneakers News, it will the first time the former Harvard standout will have his own line of sneakers after appearing as guest for previous inline releases for Adidas such as the Adidas Crazy 8, which also features stars like Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and John Wall of Washington Wizards.

"The partnership between Adidas and Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin is beginning to gain steam as the year comes to a close. Up until this point, Lin was a guest star for themed inline releases like the Adidas Crazy 8 "Jeremy Lin."

"Now the Harvard grad is the proud owner of his very own shoe, the Linsanity Mid. This signature model plays a central role in the forthcoming Jeremy Lin x Adidas "Linsanity" Collection."

The upcoming launching of Linsanity Mid only validates the increasing star power of the 26-year old Lin, who is playing in the final year of his contract that pay almost $15 million this season.

Before his partnership with Adidas, Lin also served as an endorser for rival sportswear maker Nike, who capitalized on the player's sudden surge of fame following a series of terrific performances during his brief stay with the New York Knicks.

The Lakers, who brought Lin in a trade with the Houston Rockets last summer, are also believed cashing in on the player's charisma in a market that has roughly 2.5 million Asian-American Television market.

"Los Angeles is the largest Asian-American market, 5 times larger than Houston's," according to Karthick Ramakrishnan of AAPIVoices.com, a data journalism project focusing on Asian-American issues.
