From Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop blog just a weekly newsletter back in 2008 to a lifestyle site and now a full-service media company, the actress' lifestyle brand Goop has a latest addition to her company-a travel app called G. Spotting. It's basically an app that can help you narrow down the best places and activities for your travel, with planned itineraries and other fun tips.
This app has actually been around since 2011. But back then it was called "City Guides" and it only featured three cities. With G. Spotting, you can have access to highly curated guides of over 25 cities in the world, with most information personally written by Paltrow herself.
The app is cleverly-named, with the content even more interesting. Aside from detailed guides on what to do and where to eat in a particular place (with categories such as foodie and kid friendly) G.Spotting also features underrated places that are worth your time, and not usually featured on travel sites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor.
According to Conde Naste Traveler, there are also featured content on the app that are strictly exclusive. If you are in a particular city and suddenly had a medical emergency, there's a where-to-go information that can help you look for the nearest medical facility.
There's also a geolocation installed to help you navigate your away around so that you won't have to exit G. Spotting and open another navigating app like Google Maps. How convenient is that?
All the information given by the app are inspired by Paltrow's travels and other experiences by the other Goop team members. To get the kind of inside information to a certain destination, Paltrow said that rather asking the hotel she's staying at for recommendations, she would ask the local people for tips. That way, she can gain access to underrated places most tourists would die for.
The actress announced the launching of G.Spotting at the recent Airbnb Open with Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky. In there she shared her vision about G.Spotting being the latest addition to her brand, and how she looks forward to being an entrepreneur in the coming years.
